People are way too hard on this.

I mean, come on guys... Lighten up a little bit. This movie was a lot of fun. I actually liked it better than the first American Psycho. They're very different. This movie was a fun way to kill an hour and a half. It's so silly. I think people need to quit hating on it just because of its title.

It would be a lot more fun to watch you float facedown in a pool of Meg Griffin's blood.

it was definitely more satisfying in a narrower way

like you said... they are VERY different. the first American Psycho was a real, dark, psychological thriller - while this was a comedy in my opinion. Mila Kunis was beyond horrible in it, even as comedies go - thank god she was decent in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. How can two completely different movie genres hold the same title and one being the sequel to another? to me it's simply idiotic... but it's perfectly ok if someone else like it

I am a huge fan of American Psycho (book and film). I watched this last night, despite all of the negative reviews. I was very indifferent about it, similar to when I watched S. Darko.

This would've been pretty well-recieved, in my opinion, if they hadn't of marketed it as a sequel.

Julie, you're not responding to my maleness!

Mila Kunis did a good job in the role, but that's the only thing the movie has going for it... everything else is a complete catastrophe.

I actually agree with you. I liked the 2nd one a lot better. The first one is a much better concept for a movie in my opinion, a rare true psychological thriller had it been done right, but I thought the first one was horribly done. Now I've never read the book so it could be a great interpretation of the book but I thought the acting from Christian Bale was terrible, the dialogue was even worse, and they left too many unrealistic loose ends for it to have a "were the murders real or in his head" ending. This one is just a straight forward dark comedy/thriller type movie. I definitely agree with you that had it not been given the same title and loose tie-in to the first one I think people would have liked this movie.

Surprised that I actually said that I liked this one more when I made the original post back in 2009.

The original film is far superior, and I'd even go so far as to say that it's even superior to Ellis' original novel.

With that said, I still love American Psycho 2. I think it was unfairly criticized, when it's actually a genuinely fun and entertaining dark comedy. I think that, if the producers hadn't tried to market it as a sequel, and they had made the "Patrick Bateman" scene just a random serial killer within the film's universe, it would be appreciated a lot more for the irreverent dark humor that it does so well.

And Mila Kunis was pretty great in the role, especially for an early leading film role.

I don't feel enough for you to cry.

Oh well.
