There are people on this board who LIKED this film?

Oh, that's right, it's all the people who didn't get the first film because they were too stupid to understand that it was a dark comedy and not a horror, and are now so happy to see a sequel that's more of a teen slasher flick like they expected.

Wow, this sucked.

reply

I TOTALLY agree this sequel sucked ass it didnt even show her killing them and it didnt make sense if ANYONE likes this film they have seriously bad taste in films!

No offence but it did suck

:D!*_LilacPrincess_*!:D

reply

i would have to agree that it sucked, and i havent even seen it. the idea of a sequel to american psycho makes no sense to begin with. it tarnishes the greatness that is the original by making a crappy straight-to-video sequel that was created solely for profit.

"What I didn't like about this one was it didn't correspond with the first. In the first one, Patrick's killings turned out to actually be in his head, not in real life. And now, here's the sequel, Patrick is supposedly dead and the victim of his that got away, being Kunis, is actually going out and doing the killings. This completely cancels the first film out. "

thats not actually true. although he was clearly hallucinating at some point, ive read that the director said in an interview that they didnt mean to give the impression that the killings never took place.

anyway i liked this one because it shows a different kind of madness, one that ive seen a form of myself. the first one is a man who has gone mad in his rich world of materialism. this one is someone who ends up killing because of academic ambition.

reply

oh the director said! maybe you should read the author of the book it was based on s comments. hence yes it did show a different kind of madness. if the killings never took place then why when he admitted the murders did the lawyer pass them off.

reply

The lawyer passed them off because as soon as he heard, he had the murders covered up. That was the point behind Bateman's speech at the end of the film -- his punishment eludes him because his social status prevents him from being caught. The entire film was criticism of the 80s, where money and looks were the ultimate power. It didn't matter if you were a criminal as long as you were rich.

reply

I would think the director is the authority on the movie, let the author of the book be the authority on the book. People get worked up because a movie isn't like the book, well hey, the movie is a different piece of work, and should be judged on its own merits

reply

nah the gimic was that because every1 looks the same he dident actully know who he had killed at the end

reply

Being the huge fan of trash movies that I am, I'll make sure to not miss this one! :D

reply

Oh yes, anyone who likes this must have a bad taste in films, because it contradicts to your opinion in films. Your opinion on films must be fact, which makes you an amazing individual- the only person who's opinions are facts.

Seriously, it's all opinion. So what it someone liked this movie? I enjoyed it. That doesn't mean I have a bad taste in films, it just means my taste in films is different than yours.

reply

Agreed...this is my least favorite movie ever I think...honestly... AMerican Psycho is one of my top 5 movies. Christian Bale is my favorite actor...and American Psycho 2 just spit all over it...some people shouldn't be allowed to make movies.

I agree this movie was awful. I knew it would be with her staring in it, but being a die hard American Psycho fan I watched it. I wish I had that time I wasted back.

Yes the first one was in the 80's, and I did think it was stupid how in the second it was modern day. No one put the same thought and care into the second as the first.

I love stupid slasher flicks just as much as the next guy, but in my book this one was pathetic. I personally believe Patrick Batman is unkillable, and for a little girl just to stab him??? After all the sick sh*$ he's done, just a simple knife stabbing from a little girl?? I mean really, how bad could that hurt from a little girl?

Oh well, the point is this movie IS trash and was a waste. Long live the original American Psycho.

*Patrick, where are you going? I have to return some videotapes*

Also it wasn't even a horror. It was more of a goofy comedy with killings in it. I can't undersatnd why anyone would like this movie. It' slike people who like Buffy the Vampire Slayer the show over the movie (i'm in a heated message board about that over at the page for the movie). A clever satire is followed up by pop/teen crap with terrible acting and people like it BETTER than the original?!?!? I hate people.

reply

The original wasn't "clever satire." They took a chainsaw to Joss Whedon's script, which is why he made the TV show.

I've found many people who pass such negative judgement on BtVS television show have pretty much only seen one or two episodes of the show, then just dismissed it as teen pop *beep* Usually, these same people end up changing their tunes after watching several episodes.

reply

I think the first movie and book from which it was spawned could be many things: dark comedy, statement on the emptiness and fear that comes with modern society, or whatever.

I rented the second one for 'schadenfreude' thinking it would be a horrednous embarrassment for those involved, but after the first few minutes, I grew to enjoy the movie in its own right. I was pleasantly suprised; it's half-decent for what it is, which is a dark comedy. It's far more goofy than the first one, and I wish the writers/producers had removed any link from it's namesake. That mistake on their part leads to a lot of fans of the original to be upset with this one. How could there be a sequel?!? Perhaps it's better to take it on its own and not as a continuation of something which cannot be continued.

reply

[deleted]

Well, fair enough. I expected the worst and got something better, so I didn't waste my time. Your milage varied. For other wastes of time, I recommend Rabid or any other movie by David Cronenberg! :)

reply

What the hell is wrong with some of you people? The first movie was worse if you ask me! It was f*ckin stupid

reply

[deleted]

You nailed my sentiments 100%.... except I just watched the movie today with zero expectations after seeing the original in the theaters and a dozen times at home. Shouldn't have been a sequel, but relatively good dark comedy in its own right.

reply

i havent seen the first one, and i'm sure i missed out on a masterpiece of american cinema there, but i love this movie cause it's such utter *beep* i get such a kick out of william shatner these days, basically any post-star trek desperation gets me going, im watching boston legal now just cause he's in it. i just zone out in the stupid bits, i guess the movie's trying to be clever in some way, but it pretty much just falls on its face (*SPLAT*). i basically zone out at the retarded parts (86.27% of the movie, to be exact).

i liked the movie. i thought it was hilarious. i dont think they made it to be serious but even if they did i wouldn't care b/c i laughed my ass of during this movie.

reply

What really amazes me here, is that none of you seem to have actually read American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis.
I didn't see AP2, but the whole idea of making a slasher flick sequel is just awful. American Psycho (the book AND the movie) was Ellis' extremist way of doing what he has always done - critizising the lifestyles which are also portrayed in American Psycho. That the character Patrick Bateman was written to be a homocidal madman (or some think just a madman) was in fact somewhat irrelevant to the whole novel. It was what made it so controversial and famous, but in fact it wasn't really that important.
So to make AP2 just shows how little of litterature the moviemakers in reallity understand. It's actually pathetic and embarrasing. I haven't seen this movie simply because I can't see why I should see it. So I wouldn't comment on the quality of the movie, just that it should have never been made. Instead of watching AP2 you should read a book (why not American Psycho or Glamorama by Bret Easton Ellis). It seems that the main character of AP2 murdered Pat Bateman, but in Glamorama, which takes place in the late 90's he meets with the main character very briefly. Just a comment. Read the book and THEN watch the movie

reply

Did anyone involved with AP2 read Ellis's book?

reply

i have read the book twice and it is one of my favorites. i enjoyed the book of course more than the movie, and i found myself putting the book down to gather my stomach together after some of the many grizzly details. the book is simply amazing and the movie captured me as well.

however the second one is lacking in the everything. for me the original i felt i was living in bateman's world, in the second one i felt as though i was back in a friday the 13th movie. which is nothing wrong with that, but attaching it to the first movie when it never should have been is wrong. they obvisouly did not stick with the same style and atmosphere. the story was soooo out there that it seemed impossible, but with the original it seemed....almost livable and believable.

please don't see the sequel, i saw it and i hated it, my fiance and i both hated it. we have read the book 4 times between the both of us and we love the original so please don't see the "sequel".

i hate to say it but in my point of view the second one was very less sophisticated and played towards a totally different audience than the first. they ripped off the good name and put it on crap to try and make money.

just my opinion...take it at what it's worth. (sorry about the horrible spelling)

THANK YOU!!!!!

I agree about shatner, he seems to be coming to terms with the fact that he's going nuts or something. Only the state of Wisconsin is cheesier, but you can't help but enjoy his performance. As for all these people who say" HOW DARE THEY ?" and " THE ORIGINAL WAS SUCH A MASTERPIECE " all i can say is GET OVER IT!!!!! It wasn't a good movie, frankly it sucked!!! so stop acting like they slandered Shakespere or somthing like that!!! As for A.P-2, even MILA KUNIS now says it was terible, but that might have just as much to do with her breaking up with the films director whom she was briefly dating for a while. I personally like the film but only for two reasons #1 I am a huge Mila fan- will she win an oscar? no probably not, but she's grown up to be a damn sexy woman!! and her acting is getting better since this movie. #2 this movie is so BAD that it's fun to watch, it made the rounds on late night cable two years ago every weekend HBO or SHOWTIME wre showing it at 2am or later. I found myself staying up to see it, and laughing my ass off. Between the bad BAD SCRIPT the LOW BUDGET, and of course the man himself SHATNER, this film will be a cult classic. Lay off MILA for being young and letting someone she would later date talk her into doing a crappy movie, she has a new movie called MOVING MC ALLISTER coming out in 2007 and it is said to be pretty good. give her a break.

reply

I'm prob. gonna get killed, lol, but, I liked this film. I actually saw it before I saw the first one. But of course the first one is soo much better, I just still like this one as well.

Check this out. :)

Mila Kunis' Natalie Portman reminiscents from Leon (same quick girlish voice, manners and even the OKs) were the most enjoyable aspects of this movie. With some rework this could have been Leon II: The Return of Mathilda. I also liked both original and additional music. All in all 3/10.

reply

Who really cares if someone liked this movie? Everyone is entitled to enjoy whatever they want. Just because someone enjoyed this movie, it doesn't mean that they were not smart enough to understand the first one. Maybe they like the movie because they find it comedic. That's a really ignorant assumption.

reply

Really eh.. Why is the main theme on IMDB

"If you liked this movie r u an a$$hole!!!"

or

"If you didn't like this movie r u STUPID!"

I've read the novel and seen the original, but I never even knew there was a -ahem - "sequel" to this...Mila Kunis as a deranged serial killer? Sounds bloody awful! :P

Forget it Donny you're out of your element!

Stupid boring film, why do they waste all that money to a boring movie like this, and yes,if you like this movie(or this kind of movies),then you are dumb.

the problem is people take this movie seriously. pretend it's supposed to be a comedy and it's pretty good just because it's so bad.

This movie was so bad, it caused physical pain. The indie rock girl angst soundtrack was horribly wretched, and every character is flat and stupid. The killings are not even entertaining, Brett Easton Ellis should sue to have the words "American Psycho" stricken from the title of this trash piece.

reply

The thing with this film is when the people set out too make it.... they knew it wasn't goiing to be taken seriously as a horror... so they made a Film that didn't take ITSELF seriously, I mean come on what did you expect. it was never gonna be the next big thing so I give respect to the producers and director cos they made this film exactly how it should've been... tongue in cheek!!

Here's the thing about this movie. It wasn't meant to be an American Psycho sequel. It was a different project when it was cast, just another teen horror/slasher flick. It was changed in post production to gain some of American Psycho's momentum.

On that note, The original is a classic. I love that movie. I enjoyed this movie as well. But, you HAVE to view this as a seperate movie. Just forget about the Bateman stuff, it is not supposed to be there. If you people can just ignore that tidbit, then you would enjoy this a just a cheesy horror movie. That is if you like other cheesy horror movies like Valentine, the scream series, I know what you did last summer and others that came out in the same era.

reply

I LOVED THIS FILM ! I didn't see it as a horror / thriller i saw it as a comedy ! It was sooooooo funny ! I think its a brill movie and Mila Kunis is a brill actress !
