DVD

I just baught the DVD of Marion and Geoff Series two. Is the commentary good? Does anyone have it?

Doesn't seem to be a commentary but the special 'A Summer Party' on the second disc is nothing short of brilliant. Leaves you with a slightly bitter taste in your mouth but it is the pinnacle of tragicomedy- pure genius on Rob Brydon and Hugo Blick's part.

The first series DVD had a commentary and it was really interesting.

I thought A Small Summer Party was quite bad. Im a huge Rob Brydon and Marion and Geoff fan, but A small summer party just kind of ruined it a bit.

I liked the idea of Keith telling his story about his life, and me (the viewer) creating the visuals of the people in my head. But to me, Marion and Geoff didn't look like Alan Partridge and Dirty Dens wife in eastenders.

There were some good moments though, but the episode in series one that told the same story, was more funny in the 10 minutes, than there was in the 50 minutes.

Personally I enjoyed "A Small Summers Party" not because of the fact that the same incident has already been discussed and that it was interesting to see how they imagined it (that's just a bonus) the true reason why I enjoyed it was due to it's incredibly strange feel and that nothing seems as it should in that little world.

A gun rack?. I don't even own a gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack.

danpjames16 is right, I also thought the film was bad and we didn't realy need to SEE what happened on that day. I think the part in which he tells about that day was amazing, one of the best TV moments ever, and this was just all wrong - you didn't need to see him with other people. But I like Steve Coogan as Goef.

In general, non the less, this is a great show, the writing and performance are perfect.

i didnt like "a small summers party" either - the episode in series 1 where Keith tells the story of the party is one of my favourites, and i think it was an excellent idea for a feature of about that length, but i thought they just didnt seem to get it quite right. Felt as though it was rushed a little.

I know what you mean. They left out small little details. When Geoff is telling the story in series 1 he says he bumps into Marion's dad Neville on the landing and he says "Oi Nev, you tiger" but that wasn't in "A small summer's party". Neiher was the deatail of Keith's new Velux window or the dtaial of everyone looking up at the house and looking at Geoff's bare bottom in the window or haeing Neville's booming voice. There are many little details left out that i thought could have made the whole thing much more genuine.
