Wasn't this show on another chanel besides PAX?

I think the reason for the lack of DVD is simply low budget. PAX is not a major network I really wish the show was on UPN or one of the bigger networks, however this is a PAX original and one advantage of PAX is it doesn't have to draw millions upon millions of viewers to stay on the air. The Big 3 cut anything that half the world wouldn't watch so lets rejoice that it is on PAX. DVD's will come put when ownership decides it is best I would suspect around the 5th season.

The first season is on DVD. And I assume that there will be other seasons on DVD but I don't know when.
Who's yalls favorite character. Mine is Nancy and Clint.
I couldn't just pick one.

I love Doc! Yah I think Tippi is my favorite, because she is so random and funny it makes me laugh! I like Nancy and Clint too, but i think that they should put all the seasons on DVD.

Too late. The show's dead after three seasons. Let it die.

reply

It ran five seasons actually, but who's counting? Not bad for a show that was only supposed to be a TV movie. Doc ended because Cyrus was tired of spending all of his time in Toronto and he felt the show had run its course. It was a great show with a great message. Some of the storylines got a little cheesy, but that's to be expected from a TV drama. It was the highest rated show in the history of PAX. By the end, I believe it was being watched by about 2 million households, down from 4-5 million in the beginning. That's not a ton in comparison to the bigger networks, but it's huge for what PAX usually gets.

You've made this statement a few times already and at this point it seems you're trying to convince yourself of this, rather than everyone else.

LOL....Nice try, there are many TV drama's on the air right now that easily disproves this statement. Doc's storylines never got cheesy, they were just plain cheesy from the get go. But I must admit, one has to admire your loyalty to the show.

reply

gearpat-1, the show's dead. So's the network. Let them go.

reply

The show is dead. Nowhere did I advocate for the show to come back. I have agreed that the show had run its course. I'm glad Cyrus has moved on. It was, however, a rare television treat to have a show with a good message that didn't involve all of the garbage that fills most of the shows (sex, drugs, violence, bad language, etc). As for hania, who seems to hate Doc and Cyrus but yet always lurks around ont he boards looking to jump on anyone who would actually make a positive statement, the fact is that Cyrus never wanted the show to last as long as it did. He said over and over that he felt it had run it's course. That's his words, not mine. The only way he would continue is if the filming location got moved to Nashville, so he could work on his music and be close to his family. That move would've been way too costly, so they couldn't grant the request and he couldn't continue filming. It was the highest rated show on PAX. That and Sue Thomas were about all anyone watched on that network.

I'll look forward to more of hania's always insightful, intelligent, and surely positive comments in the future when Hannah Montana airs.

reply

I shall not disappoint you gearpat-1.

Ah, gearpat-1 you flatter me, but I'm sorry you're not the only one that's special to me, I lurk on other boards. Please don't hate me. :(

Doc was all message and no plot. No character development, either.

Doc: phail/10

reply

I agree, the show was message heavy. Character development certainly could've been better. Doc was pretty much the same guy throughout the show. They could've done a better job with some of the characters, but I really liked Dr. Crane's evolution as a character throughout the series.

reply

Oh please.... the guy was all buffoon. There was so much potential at the beginning to develop a really great character for Dr. Crane, especially for such a powerful actor (had they played their cards right, the actor playing Dr. Crane was strong enough that had his character, if developed properly, I felt could've had his own show), but since the focus was Billy Ray and his inability to act, of course, they missed the boat. To be honest, it surprised me that the actor allowed the character to develop that way. I hope he fought hard against it, but lost.

reply

Gotta focus on Cyrus, since most of the audience are watching specifically for him. He's certainly a better musician than actor, but he improved quite a bit throughout the series. Your assertation that he's a terrible actor is fine, but he keeps getting acting jobs. TV, Movies, and Musical Theatre...Not bad for a bad actor. Since you're superior in every way, how is your acting career going? What about your music career? Anyone gonna buy a product that you put out?

reply

My acting career is going very well thank you, and since I know I can't sing I don't impose my inabilities in an area I know I'm not good at.

As far as bad actors getting work, there are a lot of them, (just like any business) it's just a matter of time before they fade out, you watch.

reply

What can we see you in? Community theatre doesn't count.

reply

Ha,ha,ha, funny... You should go into comedy...Although you shouldn't put down community theatre... many of the greats had their start there... I've been on the Second City Stage ... Sinners... Moon Over Buffalo... Funny Money... The Hades Factor...Filthy Gorgeous... Smoke Break... The Visits... just to name a few (both stage and screen.) As well as my own radio history segment on radio.

reply

Post the link to your IMDB page please.

reply

Okay :)

reply

Paris Hilton keeps getting acting jobs, too, and I think it's a universal consensus that her best acting was in that 'unmentionable' tape and even in that she was pretty awful.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, even people who do not act or sing can criticize people who do.

I'm not a politician, yet I'll openly criticize those I don't agree with. I don't play football, but if my team loses a bad game, you'd better bet I'll be trashing their play. Heck, I'm not a garbage man, but if my garbage doesn't get picked up, I would complain my ass off to whoever would listen.

And what's more, there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of that. So when Ben Affleck or Vin Diesel put out their next load of crap 'action packed thriller', you can take my word that I'll be bunking it from day 1.

I do miss this show. And I really dislike that ION has become the "Criminal Minds" network. I understand that it is a good show with a good cast but is is SO dark!

There were a few original programs that ION used to have that were all very entertaining.
