I'm a Christian, but why did these have to get made?

I thought they were okay, but not great. The books were very popular and, given time, might have sparked an interest in a major Hollywood player, therefore given a bigger budget and pay the books' respects.
I just thought these movies didn't do enough justice. If they want to convert people into Chrisianity, maybe waiting for a bigger budget would have done the trick. Unfortunately, people who are not Christians point out the "corny" factor too much in these types of films.

"I just thought these movies didn't do enough justice" ... There is no justice to be done to such misinterpreted information as the authors of the book have presented.

"If they want to convert people into Chrisianity, maybe waiting for a bigger budget would have done the trick" ... Well, the best approach to get people's attention is to simply choose a story that stays true to it's source. The Left Behind books are hardly that, but rather they are pretentiously staged, self-righteous fiction that purports a false theory (the rapture) and a skewed depiction of what is to come. It gets it's base facts all wrong, and everything that is built on this inaccurate foundation is simply misleading. Of course when did that stop most people from believing it? It's all right there in the Bible, but people would rather be misled by the rapture because it makes them feel smug and elite.

And of course it also makes them feel they have a safety net-- if they miss out the first time, they've got a second chance!

I didn't read the books, so watching the film, I figured it would go one of two ways. The usual way, or the way truer to traditional Revelation (and the rapture is pretty speculative, but the nature of the anti-Christ is what the film was supposed to be about)

I was happy to see it ended the way it did, with the correct anti Christ translation. And that was the basic point of the film. So I give it a thumbs up.

Perhaps by a Holy Spirit prompting to get them made. Why a Christian would object to the LB message is beyond me. Plot devices and minor errors can be debated but the basic premise of the story is still Scriptural and people need to hear it.

The time is drawing nigh for the fulfillment of all things. God is using every means possible to open eyes and hearts to future events. The Bible tells us tomorrow is promised to no one ..... people would do well to heed this warning and accept Jesus Christ's offer of forgiveness TODAY.

Because it's probably going to play a huge part in the Great Apostasy that Paul talks about in 2nd Thes.

So many Christians are expecting the real Christ first and when Antichrist(which means "instead of") comes in peacefully and prospersly playing at being their savior, most won't have enough oil in their lamps (truth) and will fall away from the true Christ who comes at the 7th trump and not a minute sooner. That's why there will be gnashing of teeth.

I urge you to have a open mind and seek the truth before its' too late. I was as you and believed in the rapture as well until people planted seeds for me and I was able to see the truth and most definitely the warnings of Christ and Paul.

These were produced because there's money to be made, and lots of Christians who are willing to shell out their hard earned money for them, hoping they'll be good, which they often aren't.

The LB series of films are poorly written, poorly adapted, poorly acted, and poorly produced. In short, they're a mess, but as long as there's money to be made, there will always be more films like them.

It's much easier to slap something together based off of a popular book series and cash in on it, and that's what they did here, Kirk Cameron's bold ignorance not-withstanding.

And it's funny how the authors of those books who believe this stuff still want more money.

You can't take it with you to the next life can you?

Some Christians seem to have a love of money that borders on sin. IMHO

I'm a Christian myself. Have been for fifty years. However I am neither an evangelical nor do I believe in the pre-Tribulation Rapture. So I had to suspend a great deal of disbelief just to swallow the plot line.

The LEFT BEHIND series has one overwhelming problem: it presents its message as a set of cold hard facts and leaves no room for discussion.

The Methodist Church of which I am a member would find this sort of thing arrogant, to say the least.
