Ghastly rubbish...

I vaguely remember seeing this when it first came out and forgot how dreadful it was, but re-watching it is an even big disappointment: it has *not* aged well. Simon Pegg does it all so much better these days - this looks like it was written by a sixth-former who thinks he's a lot funnier than he really is, and it's just silly ridiculous rubbish that only has enough comedic material in it for a two-minute sketch. The characters are all two-dimensional 'Mind Your Language' types (plus of course that bloke who always plays a thickie Northerner), and nerd-looking Coogan gives himself an unfeasibly beautiful girlfriend who falls for him the moment she sees him. Worst of all is the ridiculous score, which intrudes both by being far too loud in the mix, and stupidly over the top 'comedic' composition and performance. The only amusing thing was the roller-coaster - just watch that bit and fast-forward through the rest of it...

Utter shite, shows Coogan as the one-dimensional actor he really is. Complete pointless drivel.
