WONDERFUL

What else would you expect but excellence when you put Phylicia Rashad and Debbie Allen together? Add to that an amazing script and tight performances and you've got...what? I don't know what the word is but I enjoyed this immensely, even though the ending was not what I wished for for Rashad's character.

We need more projects like this...

Yeah, the ending wasn't good for her charcter, but it was realistic, because if it had worked out for her and husband, the relationship would've bee too weird as years went by

I was disappointed with the outcome of Phylicia's character as well and for as much as I hate to admit it, I agree that the relationship would have been weird as the years went by. Sad but true.

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!

I agree as well. I just wanted some subsequent scenes where she sees Husband
and/or Lou Bessie to tell them how she felt and what she thought!

Although it was obvious from my POV that Husband was playing Elizabeth
inorder to get at Lou Bessie, I do believe that Husband had some level of affection for her; thus it would have been extremely painful for him to have to face her. She could have also revealed to him the conversations
with Lou Bessie when she was planning ways in which to exploit and use him
to get money. Which should have already been obvious to him (remember when
she left the club with the sailors after he paid for everything!)

Therefore there needed to be some sort of confrontation that would not leave the viewers as well as Elizabeth in pain with no closure.

Remember, Elizabeth was no PUNK!! It seems to me she could hold her own with
Lou Bessie, and her character was someone everyone liked.

When Elizabeth slapped Lou Bessie, the only weapon she could fight back with
was to take Husband from her. I do think that if she had tried to physically
fight her (of course they would not put that in the script), Elizabeth would
have succeeded in kicking her A$$!

Remember the very assertive and agressive "NOT IN MY HOUSE YOU WON'T"!!

Great, Great, Great Project and Peformances!!!!

I really don't think that was intentional. He was hung up on Lou Bessie but had given up on her and I think he honestly had feelings for Elizabeth, but not the feelings he thought he had. He was looking for the safe and caring relationship he knew he'd never have with Lou Bessie. But when he went to Lou Bessie to tell her he was leaving, he was hoping she'd tell him not to go. I'm not sure he wanted to stay if she did but that's what happened.

Life doesn't always work that way. And the story wasn't about Lou Bessie or Husband. It was about Elizabeth and her hopes and the eventual downfall. If they had finished the movie with her giving some sass to them, it would have been another movie. Her heart was broken, she wasn't going to get on Jerry Springer and slap them around.
