What Other Film Have You seen That Mixes Drama and Comedy so Well?

One of No Man's Land's major strengths is that it is funny while still making you think very carefully about the predicament itself. What other films can you think of that are funny and emotional?

American Beauty is an obvious one, but I think Dead Man works brilliantly as a 'dromedy' (drama/comedy) as well...

It is impossible to experience one's own death objectively and still carry a tune

I live in Australia...and Junebug still hasn't come over here! We're the cultural end of the world sadly...

So is it good?

"Click", with Addam Sandler. It has both funny and sad parts (although there is not war).

I guess Dr.Strangelove by Kubrick is the one you must be looking for...and its better than this one by a mile.

I've just watched "No Man's Land" today and thought it was brilliant! A film that mixes drama with comedy and shares the backdrop of the Balkan Conflict, is Emir Kusturica's "Zivot Je Cudo" (Life is a Miracle). It's quirky like "Amelie" but is much better. Check it out! http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0322420/

Here's my short review of it on flixster.com: "This is one of the quirkiest films I've ever seen. The outbreak of the Balkan conflict is an unlikely setting for this crazy comedy, that had me laughing out loud. It's not only the locals who are eccentric, but the animals too! The characters are odd but endearing, and you can't help but feel drawn into the unlikely love story that develops. The viewer is taken on a surreal, yet human journey. This film is absolutely charming and the scenic beauty of Bosnia is visually stunning on camera. It may be a bit long, but it is dreamy, sweet and touching. A real gem from world cinema, that deserves to be treasured by a wider audience. And God bless that donkey!"

Try "Pretty Village, Pretty Flame". It's also about Bosnian war.

Almost all of the best movies from Yugoslavia and ex-Yugoslavia countries mix comedy and drama in some way. I guess it's just how our life looks to us.
