Farfrae/Henchard?
Perhaps I dozed off just at a particular moment but...what turned Henchard against Farfrae initially? Right after that, Henchard tells Elizabeth Jane not to see him anymore. Can someone clue me in?
shareFarfrae embarrassed Henchard in front of his employees, by standing up for the young lad who was always late, and whom Henchard wanted to punish. Henchard was not at ease with Farfrae's intentions anymore after that. In a way, can't say as I blame him. Farfrae should have pulled him aside and reasoned with him. Instead, he grandstanded, gave Henchard an ultimatum and ended up embarrassing the prideful man and losing his friendship.
