Pretty Stupid

No surprise this piece came from Sodomcisco. Waaay too touchy feely and lacking in consciousness of what such an apocalypse would really be like. Man, I could take 9 other guys (or tough gals) from around here (115 miles north of SF) and conquer the whole city occupied by such a collection of pansies.

A viral Armageddon that wiped out nearly a million people in the City/County of SF (99.9% of the population) would cause unimaginable psychological trauma to all the survivors. Most people portrayed were so "normal" and after something like that, 10 years or even 50 years, they still wouldn't be "normal" (even San Francisco "normal"). The only guy close to realistic was the Arsonist guy. And yeah, right, the pansy people would have the guts to kill him! (for what, exactly, burning things down?). Watch 28 Weeks Later, and the mother hiding in her home would be a good image of what survivors' mentalities would be like.

As for the chick who was "interviewing" for fathers, despite her "power chick" attitude, she's reasonably attractive, and most guys would simply be *taking* her for their purposes. Horrendous to most of us, including myself, but such would be reality after the "end of the world." Food, firearms, and females would be the precious things of such a world.

Well now, dont you feel good about yourself there macho boy. Oooo tough guy behind a keyboard. Listen, some of what you say is true. This was way too serene for a post-apoc world. I dont think people would be huddled in corners, dirty and speechless 10 years later as you are suggesting, but yeah it wouldnt be so nice. That said though, your post has raving pseudo-macho, neo-con, mysoginistic, nra-member, homophobe written all over it. Youre hardly a person anyone should listen to on any subject. Youre saying rape is ok for goodness sake, do you hear your own words?!

I think the OP is saying his vision of the world where human population was severely reduced by disease would more resemble the vision of a future where the human population had been similarly reduced by nuclear war as portrayed in "A Boy and His Dog". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072730/

It is possible to imagine that the agency of the mass deaths might alter the outcome for future human society, or its extinction.

Actually, I thought "macho boy's" was a fairly accurate assessment of a post-apocalyptic world. The worst part of this movie was the jarring techno-anomalies that kept popping up. For example, the place where Mad Mark was discovered look like a recycling plant some such place but the piles of material there were cetainly not weathered for 12 years. They looked fresh. Twelve-year-old cigarettes would burst into flame when lit. Tobacco does dry out and becomes useless in a short while. Too many well-groomed men. All were shaved and no one needed a haircut. The need to impress within a small population would all but disappear but still many of the women wore dangling jewelery and nose studs (!!?). Another flaw of the movie was the continuance of a feminist-oriented, emascualted male society. When the population level reaches a critically low level, it will become the duty of every fertile individual to make babies. Humankind will return to clearly defined male and female roles and little deviation from those roles will be tolerated. Homosexuals need not apply for membership in such a community. (Nor celebates or any kind.) If the touchy-feely attitude of PC America survives the apocalypse then perhaps mankind deserves extinction.
