I also didn't get the scam ultimately. Was the staff hired as actors for his funeral then stayed on to play the roles when the brothers unexpectedly showed up? Or was it just that the count was using it as a compliment that they "acted" the part of being perturbed by the Americans?

Yeah, if you know how talented Malco and Rudd are, don't bother to watch this one.
