Oscar nomination? Really?

As much as I enjoyed Michelle Pfeiffer in this film, I was surprised to learn so many people in the industry thought she’d receive a Oscar nomination. She was good, definitely… but Academy Award good?

I think she definitely deserved a nomination. I think it's Michelle's best performance. The scene at the end when she comes clean to her Astrid was the best scene of the movie. Her acting in it was unbelievable.

Oh, she most certainly deserved an Oscar nom. Even if just for the scene with Claire at the prison. The way her eyes changed once Claire made the statement about her husband and frequent flier miles, was so sinister and perfect. She was going to enjoy playing with and manipulating Claire, like a cat pawing a mouse for fun, eventually killing it.

That said, there wasn't a scene where she wasn't brilliant. Definitely the best performance of her career, and definitely a travesty that she didn't get an Oscar nomination for it.

Pfiffer was good, but I thought Alison Lohman was fantastic. I think if anyone were nominated it should have been Lohman. She was completely overlooked by everyone and I have no idea why.
