How incredibly unprofessional and unclassy

I really wanted to give this film a chance (and I did actually give it 2 chances), but it is almost entirely a sh!tshow from start to finish. The worst part is that it is so obvious how crappy everyone involved knew it was. Between the "Story Bible" and "Editing Notes" on the DVD, you can really see how disorganized the production was. And I used to work in film, so I understand that it can be challenging, but this is ridiculous.

But to top it off, there are a few blatant instances of people involved with the production being just plain unprofessional. First, the producer does this:

http://filmcritic.com/misc/emporium.nsf/84dbbfa4d710144986256c290016f76e/1a596c2e1011a6cd88256d7b005e39ed?

And in the editing notes, they try to blame the sloppy edit on Jeremy Davies, saying it was their "solution to our initial dilemma--if Jeremy Davies wasn't going to put life into the Drifter, we create it for him." I'm sorry, but who puts that on their DVD?? That's just a childish blame game! If you didn't like his performance, then sure, try to fix it, but then move on! Don't air your grievances on your DVD.

What a turn off.

Wow. Thanks for the link! Way to go, Mr. Lord...

OMFG! The exchange is hilarious. You'd think the producer would realize everything he sent would end up on the Web for everyone to view. You'd also think he'd at least spell check and review his messages b4 hitting the send button. I'm poking around in here because I can buy it used for $4.95. Still haven't decided. Off to read more reactions to the film.

Oh, btw, the link doesn't work any more. If you search on "29 Palms" (on the site's error page) you get two links. This one worked:

that link is dead btw

what notes? is that on the dvd?

i'd like to read the screenplay and see if it was better than the movie. i tried to like this film, and i really like the premise amd the use of music in some places. they caught certain vibes in some scenes which were cool and sexy but the overall plot was jacked. which is why i say, i'd like to see the script.

is there a copy on the dvd extras?

thanks

Film was not perfect and producer shouldn't have contacted critic.

However, critic was an idiot, its obvious it didn't watch entire film or is of low intelligence.

Saw it last night on HBO or Cinemax or one of those. All in all a very good movie. Kinda weak in spots, like "trusting a beautiful woman" and then riding on a bus with a chick who stole your car after promising to not "try anything".

What brought me to this site was curiosity as to the writer of the story. Seemed like it was Quentin Tarantino (at the very least a major influence). Like I said, it was a TIVO special and I didn't even know it was as recent as 2002. Like injun chief say, "Car salesman say it seat seven...." The writer of this story liked Tarantino as much as Mencina aparently liked others' jokes. Good movie--wished I could access the sour grapes on both broken links, though.

Makes sense, disorganized production for a disorganized film. While I didn't hate it like you did, I did indeed thought it sucked. Solid cast which was of course wasted, should have been made in the mid-late 90s like all the other Tarantino rip-offs.
