Would you take immortality?

If you wer egiven the chance, would yo decide to live forever. think about it carefully for a minute. Your family would die, your friends, your loved ones, yet you would live on. But, you would never have to face judgement, like going to heaven or hell, that is if you believe in it.

I wouldn't. Only because when you have unlimited time things aren't as special. When you're mortal, nothing can ever be the same as it is at any particular moment, therefore you cherish it more because you only experience it once.

What’s more important; eliminating pain or retaining the humanity that causes pain?

I would take it in a heartbeat.

yes I would and i would start with it at the age of 25.

No way I would.

When the world finally comes to an end, where would that leave me?

Floating in space alone with the rocks?

I wouldn't now ,but when I was younger I sure wanted Winnie too.

Me too..

i would if it meant i would remain eternally youthful and beautiful and successful and healthy, otherwise immortality would suck!! i wouldn't want to be in a 'death becomes her' scenario!!

When I first entered this board I was thinking maybe there'd be some wise people, but of course I only find greedy selfish people. Everyone who said they'd take it (immediately or not) how selfish of you. You'd live forever and take everything for granted and never age or get sick or hurt yet all around you the world is going to hell (literally). Besides, you'd eventually die when the world comes to an end. BTW, yes, the world will end because God said so. You don't have to believe in God, and I could really care less if you do or don't, because you will see.

There is another way to eternal life anyways and to still enjoy time on earth. Through Christ you can have eternal life.

So I guess my answer would be, no, I wouldn't drink from the spring because I already have eternal life...in heaven and w./ our Creator.

you suck

it can only be selfish if someone else loses something because of it(including in indirect ways). if what you say is true, than people shouldn't improve their own condition in any way just because others might envy it?

YOU GO BWEPJESUS!! UR SO RITE!! COULDNT BE MORE RITE!!

jesusbwep_07, since when did God say the world will come to an end? The Bible only said the heavenly armies will descend and Jesus will rule for a thousand years, on Earth. God made the rainbow so everyone that comes after Noah would know that God will never destroy life on Earth again. I guess that doesn't happen in your case, eh? Think about it, why would God create earth then destroy it again, then take people's souls or whatever to heaven to be angels? Besides, God didn't create you to be snobby...^_^ It's good you are so passionate about God though, it's just that you need to re-examine some things you said.

Yes I would want immortality. It really depends on the quality of life you live, so although living forever may not be that awesome if everyone else you love passes away, if you're young and have all the time in the world (literally) you can write books, help people, etc. It's like you can do whatever you want and understand the earth and life better.

reply

definitely. people i care about will die either way, and me dying before them simply means we're being seperated earlier. death isn't the only thing that gives life(and good things in it, that is) meaning/value, and even if it is, it's still there- the world is always changing, people die and things disappear, so lying aroung somewhere until the sun burns out is still a loss.

reply

This is a hard one on the one hand like you said you would outlive everyone, watching everyone you love and care about die on the other hand you would never get sick, never have to grow old and never die, I would say no I wouldn't want immortality unless I was already dying from some disease like cancer or something like that. Also I'm of the belief that death is only the beginning, I mean who knows whats to come for all of us beyond death???

God sent us an angel from the heavens above and called him Wentworth Miller

Only with someone, enternity is nothing if not with them.

well that's a tough dicision. i have to agree with plazbo on the whole having someone to be with deal. but i would also say yes cause i would always be able to start over when a time in my life went wrong i would always have the chance to start over. and i could get to everyrthing i could ever want to do.

i would. not so much for the fact that i wouldnt die, but so i wouldnt have to get old. i think im scared of getting old more than i am of dying. but i think i would need someone to live eternity with. i would stay 17 with jesse forever =]

reply

I don't believe I would. After first watching this movie, I was kinda mad at her for not taking it because HELLO! JESSE TUCK?! Who wouldn't live forever if she had the promise of being loved by him? But then I started thinking about it, and if she had drunk from the spring, her life wouldn't have been normal. She would have experienced marrying and watching her children dying along with her husband...and since she would live forever, she would watch that happen over and over and over again. Unless she got the first family she had to drink from the spring, and then what would Jesse come home to? A married Winnie, husband, and kids. So....then what would Jesse and Winnie do? Exactly. She wouldn't be with Jesse forever, but she got to be with him that summer, and she got to live her life. The way it's supposed to be. I'd take that over anything.

I wouldn't want to live forever. Seeing people suffer all day long in this cruel world, I rather die.
