Well actually I really don't understand why he hooked up with her at all. Erika was a total miscast as the femme fatale. I think for the premise to work you really need someone super hot. Erika was nice and at the time was riding a wave of fame but her seducing the swimmer guy ( and all his friends going gaga over her ) was totally unbelievable. if i was Shari Applebe I would be offended that my fictional boyfriend is seduced by some not as pretty as me (at the time).

I agree to some extent. Erika is pretty yes, and she has a kind of *saucy* sex appeal emerging, but at the time she was kind of pudgy and her face comes off as almost "Miss Piggy-ish", very round. Her smile is stiff too.

Shiri Appleby is very pretty, but at the same time she was a bit too girl-next-door here. That can get boring after a while, and since they'd been going together a long time (and Ben is a teenager to boot) I could see how it could get bit dull.

That said, both ladies are very beautiful now.

I don't think it was just Madison's looks that Ben was attracted to - she is certainly physically attractive but I think he was also drawn to her because she was mysterious and, in my opinion, gave off a different vibe than the other girls at his school :-)
