Did they have to dub this? What were they thinking? Why not just do it in Spanish? It was HORRIBLE...each line sounded like it was being read aloud from a book. I ended up turning off the sound and watching it with subtitles (DVD). My God. It could've been an inteesting movie, but the dubbing totally ruined it. Dubbing is violence.

But i agree with the dubbing, movies that are dubbed is RAPE… if people are stupid enough to not handle reading subtitles they just should go do something else, watch Van Helsing or something.
It’s like repainting Da Vinci's paintings or changing lyrics to Bob Dylan songs.
I didn't think it was language dubbed, the mouth movements did seem to match up with the dialogue, however I think Herbert's must have been re-recorded and badly synched. Whether that was because they got someone else in to revoice him, or if he was not talking clearly enough on set, I couldn't say.
shareBoth Herbert and the blond woman (forget name) are re-dubbed, and the synching is bad. Their best scenes are when they are in the suits and you cannot see their mouths anyway!
shareAgreed.....the worst part of it was that it was sort of a "Mixed Dubbing" of only certain characters, so you cant even begin to ignore it...horrible choice....altho I suspect that it may have been because the original acting was so atrocious they thought dubbing might have been better.
Wow....poor Vincent Gallo and Joaqium, they were the best actors on that set, and must have been secretly CRINGING to themselves.
You see this alot in foreign made films for the American market, especially Italian and French horror films. The actors who can't actually speak English fluently speak their lines phonetically. Then someone else who speaks English records their lines properly and that is used for a dub track. If you want to see an early example of this, watch Vincent Price's Last Man On Earth. He is obviously the ONLY english speaker in the movie.

Strange. I saw the movie in Spanish with English subtitles, and it was dubbed, dubbed in Spanish. I don't knowe if English dubbing is worse than Spanish, but it was quite a disapoitment to hear Vincento Gallo dubbed in Spanish. So what, does this movie actualy have no "real" language track? Just both English and Spanish versions dubbed?
shareI think these Spanish actors did talk in english, but they decided the "Spanish/english" accent was too well..."wired" for the american market. So the decided to redo the english and dubed them.
Its the only logical explanation I can think of. The lips are correct and all that, so they are talking english. But its deffently NOT the actors voices.
It sounds like the Suzana character at least was dubbed. Almeida's and Medeiros'characters had their own voices - and you could tell some accents. Gallo is american, so no need. The others are spanish actors, so yes, it's a possibility.
