What's with the terrible voice overdubbing?

A couple of the actors have been overdubbed with voice actors that cannot possibly be any better than the original actors voices - although I haven't noticed anyone else point this out yet. Am I the only one with the copy of this movie with awful voice-overs? It's not all the actors only a couple of them. The others seem to be not overdubbed.
This movie seemed interesting and the poor acting/dialogue/really bad voice overdubs are so distracting.

When I first started watching this - the voices and mouth movements were so off, that I thought it was a foreign film with english dubbed over. So I kind of did not think about it.

Then I realized it was just horribly dubbed all together.

No, this is precisely what I heard as well. It seems that it was just the two blonds, a male and a female who they used the voice actors for. Awful work, by the way. And Vincent Gallo as a scientist - that's what I call thinking outside the box. :-}

The dubbing synced up perfectly.

It just didn't fit and I spot it right away. The voice actors seemed so unenthusiastic and plain.

The guy was annoying...The girl not so much.

The dubbing most certainly did NOT sync up perfectly. I watched the movie on Netflix and rebooted my Apple TV because I was convinced the stream was desynced.

My guess is each actor spoke in his or her native tongue. This would allow for the voices to then be overdubbed as appropriate for release in English-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries.

reply

I figured that at first too but if you watch their lips (as I did quite intently) they are speaking English.

Oh my! I'm glad someone else brought this up because I literally stopped the movie and searched google for a reason for the awful dub job. Like I thought maybe this version I downloaded (legally) was messed with for some dumb reason. Nope, just bad sound direction/editing. You'd think with 810 million pesos they could squeeze in another few days to redo the dubbing!
