Yes; Roy was real.

I worked for Roy a couple of years before he died. He was a cosmetics entrepreneur. The "Red Door" is a reference to Elizabeth Arden; where he began his career.

I was not aware until just now that this film had been made. I will definitely have to see it.

No way!!! Is this a true story then?? Was his name Roy Karrel then? Matia`s brother? The film, according to the story, takes place in Boston - yet it was filmed in Newfoundland. Do/did you live in Boston? Actually, as far as I remember, in the movie Roy`s assistant is called Kenny...was that based on you??
I see you posted this 3 years ago, so you must have watched it by now. What did you think of it? Was Roy really an arrogant guy? Did he look similar to Kiefer?

Kind REgards,
Kathy

it wasnt bad,, i didn't know it was about a man dying of aids when i bought it,, but pretty good, although i oouldn't understand why they kept flashing back to the past, because it did not explain the reasons why Natalie and Roy stopped talking for 10 years.
are you going to bark all day little doggie,, or are you going to bite

Can you explain the Red Door and Elizabeth Arend concection? I dont get it.

reply

Try googling 'Elizabeth Arden Logo' in the images section, and look carefully at the logo next to the Elizabeth Arden name.
The 'red door' is part of the logo, and also one of there most popular selling perfumes.
