I quite enjoyed this film, it was nicely executed. Wasn't quite convinced by why pumpkin liked him so much but I suppose Napoleon must have had an extraordinary amount of personal charisma.
One thing though, I had to go and make dinner halfway through, can anyone tell me how he gets from talking to the soldier in the field to living with pumpkin?

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I believe it went something like this: The soldier in the field gives Napolean the name of a contact in Paris, another soldier who would be sympathetic to his return and help him regain power. When arriving at the address in Paris, Napolean learns the contact has just died and Pumpkin is the grieving widow. Pumpkin agrees to let him have lodging for 1 night only. Next day, I believe on his way out, he slips and takes a nasty fall. Pumpkin and a doctor friend bring him back to his room to recuperate, and the relationship takes off from there.
