Ian Holm as Napoleon...

How many times has he played the Old General...?

This and Time Bandits...any other times? He does a good job, I reckon.

He played Napoleon brilliantly in the British (Thames tv) tv mini-series broadcast here on PBS "Napoleon and Love" (1972) -

with Billie Whitelaw (also brilliant) as Josephine. It was after I saw this that I decided he was my favorite actor based on his incredible talent and skill alone, and I've never changed my mind. I'm disappointed that this is not on DVD (not even on VHS), as with many wonderful made for tv productions from Britain in the 70s. (See my review of Janet Suzman's performance as Hedda Gabler here; that's another one I fervently wish were available on DVD.)

3 in all ...

"Napoleon and Love" (1972)
"Time Bandits" (1981)
"The Emperor's New Clothes" (2001)

I think he's got a soft spot for old Napoleon.

Ahhh, thank you.

I suppose the pool of actors that could realistically play Napoleon isn't that large. I mean that in the best way of course.
