Liza's Letter

Can anyone tell me what the letter said? I was interrupted during that scene, and didn't catch any of it!!

reply

Something along the lines of, "Move on, but carry me in your heart." She also leaves a match in the letter (presumably to destroy it after reading), that's how the fire gets started.

Yeah I liked the match element. Some parts of the letter were fairly cryptic despite the "find someone else" element. Could you tell me what the rest of the letter was all about? I was slightly confused by other parts of the letter.

I liked how we didn't get to see her until much later in the film. Damn, that Phillip Seymour Hoffman can act; he is truly an acting phenom! He can definitely get into the weird roles and really master the part (for instance: "Happiness", what a creepy, odd ball that character was).

I agree that the second line in particular didn't make much sense.

She says "I probably left a mess, you deserve better" then the part where she asks him to "love her (enough) to bear it", basically asking his permission to allow her to leave this world.

Whatever her circumstances were she made it clear there was no other possible solution, she simply wanted an exit. My feeling was that she was asking for his forgiveness and acceptance and telling him to move on.

There are no clues to her specific condition, it must've been severe emotional and psychological distress whatever the cause.
