scene stealing or simply a nod to Being There? (possible spoilers)

don't read this if you haven't seen it.

That scene at the end, just after reading the letter and before the credits roll, where he's walking in the middle of the street....anyone else reminded of Being There, With peter sellars?

Probably just coincidence...although I thought I'd mention it as I notice some directors like to leave in a nod to another film - with subtle references nly the anoraks might spot.

Either way. Superb film.

I don't really see a connection. I always felt that the closing shot of Being There was symbolic of the main character's innocence in a world of corruption.

The closing shot of Love Liza, to me, symbolizes that Wilson is either freed of his grief and habits, or is just walking down to the Sunoco for some more gas (sans pants).

No don't see a parallel, then again, I read the book instead.

If anything it somewhat reminded me of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch"

Forest Gump is the film that reminds me of Being There

He was so crooked, he could eat soup with a corkscrew.
