Beyond $h!t

It's on BBC one right now and I can't take how crap it is starting with the 'style over substance' film-making. The script that thinks it is way more clever than it is. The stupid Matrix fashion sense and worse than anything ALL of the acting especially that g0nad who played the chopper pilot and that utterly phony american accent.

And what the hell was with all those ridiculously over the top characters like the 'black' hating guy they team up with or that AWFUL kids evangelist guy who's a part time fence. Give me a break!

Like anyone would rob in such an over the top manner, it's just an excuse to merge extreme sports with crime and it's FAILED, on every level.

Oh and Stephen Dorff is NO leading man both he and Natasha Henstridge are a pair of movie killers and film cameras have this allergy to them.

I just found this movie a titanic waste of time and money it was banal, fascile, exploitative and ultimately left a bad taste in my mouth.

Now I appreciate there are people out there who like this. OK, fair enough, I like some stinkers too. But if you actively think this film is well made get your head examined.

ow sh!t i'am watching it 2 right now in holland on the bbc help i want to kill my self its that bad

reply

I watched it last night too, can't believe I watched to the end. Such bad acting and did anyone notice that extremely badly done stunt where a police car got wedged through a moving truck? It moves so smoothly and slowly you could tell it was being pushed through by hydraulics or something. That made me laugh.

Hahahaha yeah!

reply

Watched it last night, the rollerblading action was pretty good but it was rapidly downhill after that. Utter garbage.

reply

it was on last night here in thailand.

i have 2.5 channels that speak english. sci fi. universal (which should be called the law and order channel, since 90% or its programming is law and order). and a movie channel that starts showing movies in english after 9 pm.

based on the crap i've watched in the past year, this one was better than most of the crap that thai tv shows me.

plus, it had titties. i like titties.

as far as the cop car scene goes, if it was really that bad, you probably would have known what was pushing the car for sure. not "hydraulics or something"

This film was superb. I can't believe anyone would hate it. It has great stunts, action, a decent storyline and Stephen Dorff playing a cool character. It's just light entertainment but done "extreme"ly well.

And yes, the film is well made, and Stephen Dorff is excellent as a leading man.

reply

It was on bbc1 again last night, twice a year for a film as bad as this is criminal. The worst thing about it for me was all the extreme sports nonsense. And Stephen Dorff, natch.

reply

meh

Somebody's coming up .... somebody serious

Terrible script so I can't overly blame the actors.
But the scene near the begining where Natasha Henstride comes into the police briefing and there's a whole lot of sexist banter ..... I actually laughed it was so bad.

reply

Ha... Yeah it's been a few years since I saw this film but it made an impression - there's something great about catching a random late night film and finding it to be hilariously bad.

That particular scene with the police briefing and the banter was a classic... like some sort of wierd spoof.

reply

Seriously, what the hell was with that scene? So bizarre.
