love this movie!

everytime this movie comes on Lifetime I have to watch it. I love it and even though I have seen it many times, I still cannot help but get ticked off at her husband. How can anyone be so selfish as to do that to their family ?! He just left them to grieve over his "death" and then struggle for 10 years to get by while he is off pretending to be someone he isn't. He deserved to be locked up for that kind of behavior.

I love this movie, it is my favorite movie from Lifetime/LMN. I feel the same way you do babygurl432. I get ticked off at him everytime I watch this. I know how can someone do that to another person? Just leave his family thinking he is dead to find out 10 years later that he is alive.

You seem like the perfect person to ask since you have seen the movie so much ... I was watching it today and I got to where they brought the husband into court and he saw his sons standing there just before entering ... then I had to LEAVE!!!!! Could you please tell me what happened?? You can send a message so you don't spoil it for anyone else but I would really appreciate it!!! Thank you!

Some people wonder if this is a true story. It is. I have a direct connection to this family by my current marriage and I've been informed that every word of it is true and that the guy is a big jerk. What he did was unbelievably selfish and the man is a narcissist. It runs in the family, which is or was huge. His father was a prominant doctor in a small town and he has numerous siblings, an old Catholic family. He was a big loser and still is in my opinion. I was appalled that he did not get any "real" jailtime for his crimes. He was slapped on the wrist and turned loose. They should have strung him up by the ..... I too watch this movie everytime it's on and it's on right now.

I have this movie on right now, so I looked it up to read more about it. Thank you for clarifying the facts of the case. Wow. I agree that this man is a real SOB. What he did was unbelievably cruel, especially to his two young children...

What a sleazeball. Bad enough he abandons his family with a suicide note. Turns out he has been conning people all over the place. And then he tops it off by trying to charm his sons by seeing them in jail. Then tops that by making some self serving statement to the judge. I wanted to throw up. I was so happy they did not fall for him like apparently everybody else did. I like to know why everybody felt the guy was a God where he lived at.

His passion for Maine was unquenchable. Don't hate, eat a lobster.

reply

He actually fled to Galveston, Texas not Maine. I'm not sure why the movie placed it in Maine.

So can you please tell us what happened in the end? Did the boys ever reconcile with their father?

I'm curious about what happened in real life. If it's okay with the family, can you just tell us briefly or PM me?

Thanks much.

This reply is belated but I too have watched this movie several times - a true story about a man whose character is totally dysfunctional. 8 marks out of ten.

I love the movie! I just saw it for the first time. I understand the son's reactions to their father - he left them and took the coward ways out leaving them to basically having to their lives over - giving up everything that meant security to them. Their mother was a mother and father to them. Maybe after some time they would want to form some sort of relationship, but their initial reactions and pain are understandable.

It's a really good Lifetime movie. I was amazed that the husband was released 8 months after going into prison, according to the screen notes at the ending.
