Still the greatest RPG after 6 years

Ever since release I have had this game, sadly my CD got lost after moving and have been without it for 1 year BUT after happily coming across the game for sale with Throne of Bhall + Bonus CD, I am hooked once again.

I am amazed at just how addicting this game is, not to mention butiful graphicly. It still holds up (using "unsupported rez").

I love RPGs but the genre is a dieing one, thanks to all these "half assed" so called "RPG" games that keep comming out. It sadens me that there are very few 2d RPG games out now. Not to mention RPG that actually ARE RPGs, not like The Elder Scrolls or Gothic.
Even Never Winter Nights 2 missed its mark In my opinion.

Ah well. Seems these quality RPG games died out after BG2. It is a hard game to live up to. And I hightly recomend it to anyone out there that likes RPGs.

This is true so true, BG 2 is the best game I've ever played! Let's hope Bioware will take us back to "the good old days" with Dragon Age.

So true. I find myself coming back to Baldur's Gate each year, which is a testament to how good it is.

I have to agree...I still play it even now. I used to work on games magazines and remembered previewing the first Baldur's Gate and knowing it would be huge. I do miss these 2D games - Neverwinter Nights was OK but really lacked the narrative depth of the BG series (especially II and TOB), especially as you were limited to your own character plus one other. The party is what makes this - such great characters, and some of the interactions are hilarious.

Moonfog, if you haven't played Planescape: Torment (another Infinity Engine game) I'd really recommend it - it's very different from most of the other RPGs but the story is amazing. It's hard to find now, unfortunately - I still have an old copy and perhaps you can find one on eBay or similar.
