Does anyone know where to find this show?

I saw this show as a kid and I loved it. Does anyone know if there is a way to get hold of a DVD with english subtitles???

All help would be most appreciated.

For what its worth I'll add my interest too, I remember this from a kid as well :)

Alas, I only have half an episode, in French with Swedish subtitles.

Yes, it's true! IMDB has reached Sweden!

reply

Have you tried the procidis web site? They sell there some other "Once upon a time.." series

reply

Procidis's web site didn't make it clear that the English version of 'Once Upon a Time..Space' was available on DVD in the past.

Unfortunately the English version of this series was only available on the DVD release from Disques Office in Switzerland, which is out of print now.

It's a shame they didn't include at least subs on the french dvd's.

I knew the human body version of these cartoons... But for some reason I vaguely recalled space scenes with the same looking characters, and decided to do a search.. "Il était une fois... l'espace" ...

This (and the other one) definitely needs to be preserved. It's a shame of humanity of this gets lost in time...

If anyone has the DVDs of both, please upload them to youtube..

The Space series if mayhaps my fondest TV memory from my childhood, and I'm not alone since it seems that Sweden is one of the only countries who decided to release it on DVD (with the ghastly dub intact but also *phew* with french audio). However, finding an english sub is neigh impossible.

reply

On my set with swedish subs, it's also spoken french and swedish.
Guess the French are a bit like the US Americans and prefer not to have subs.

Procidis web site mentions the latest DVD release of 'Once Upon a Time..Space' in France included the English and French versions, after the last update. Unfortunately it looks like it was released in December 2012, and seems to be out of print already! this edition isn't listed on eBay and only a few offered via private sellers on Amazon (France), where it isn't clear if it is the right edition.

So it has happened again, another English release we didn't even know about, which seems to been out of print, and hard to find already.

reply

I ended up ordering from FNAC.com, since it was the only option, other than private sellers. The DVD set was sent DHL express and arrived today, I can confirm the English version is definitely included.

I think this DVD release might just be limited, especially since it doesn't seem to have been available directly from Amazon (France). FNAC.com seems the best option, if you can manage to register and order in French, with use of online translation service.

Which version was this, the one with 25 or the one with 26 episodes?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ix_LVwEMP8&list=PL7361E9892F61A5C3

This link will get you to Youtube where all 26 episodes can be found this is the Dutch version English subtitles can be activated by activating subtitles (click first icon at bottom right) subtitles can be changed by clicking the second icon below right and change subtitles(probably in "Dutch" into "automatic translation" and choose "English" for language. And there you have not the original language but at least with English subtitles and the entire series it's still quite good stories are quite entertaining better script writing than most SF movies.

If the menu in Dutch follow same procedure check "ondertiteling" change from "Nederlands (automatisch gegenereerd)" into "automatisch vertalen" roll down scroll menu click "Engels".
