Small cities like Darkness Falls are always full of morons.

Is it like this in real life? I've never lived in a small city or town. But the residents are always *beep* idiots. One exception off the top of my head is in the movie The Crazies.

It's not like in real life. Small cities and towns have about the same concentration of stupid, but Hollywood loves some cliches.

To be fair, most horror movies are usually filled with dumb characters, even if they actually take place in Hollywood.

If everyone in a horror movie was brilliant and accommodating there wouldn't be as much opportunity for...horror. Not that I don't appreciate strong, smart characters, because I do. But I don't expect to find them in every bit part within a mediocre mainstream horror flick.

I think most if not all horror or slasher movies are full of morons in order to make it easier to get them killed off.

UI don't know about all small towns, but it is most of them I've seen yes. Look at Salem Massachusetts and look no farther. I don't mean now a days I mean back in 1692-making up stories and crap so they could kill each other off and if they never met a witch before-why did they hate them so much? The entire Salem witch trials was full of stupid people.

Just like the people in this that killed Matilda-'should we go look for the children first?' 'No it was definitely her fault let's attack her and kill her.'  Not to mention Kyle's townspeople were stupid too. 'Isn't it odd we have so many unsolved murder cases for the last 100 years and mostly all of them are children?' 'No that happens all the time.'

I understand that it's realistic and they are making it a shared delusion/mob psychology thing, but the people are still idiots.
