A Gem of a movie.....
This is me, Eliza Thornberry, part of your average family. I've got a dad, a mom, and a sister. There is Donnie - we found him. And Darwin, he found us. Oh yeah, about our house - it moves, because we travel all over the world. You see, my dad hosts this nature show, and my mom shoots it. Okay, so we're not that average. And between you and me, something amazing happened... and now I can talk to animals. It's really cool, but totally secret. And you know what? Life's never been the same.
As soon as I heard those words, the movie was onto a winner... just like the brilliant TV series the movie had a message without being too preachy (caring for animals is always the right thing to do!), the characters were hilarious (Tim Curry esp as Nigel Thornberry!!) even Debbie and Eliza manages to stike the right balance between annoying and likeable, the music soundtrack is great and the animation superb and the storyline is typically Thornberry. It manages to entertain and educate which no other film and tv series to date has managed to do with this level of success. Why only the 4.7/10 when the TV episodes get 6.7/10???. The movie in my eyes is undeservedly an underrated, underappreciated film. I believe the film is a true treasure and I was able to see it again today and I was so pleased after looking for it for so long!!! It's time to bring The Wild Thornberrys back out of the vaults and onto the screens where they belong! Who else agrees?
