No video release?

Pity that this wasn't better than it was - it should have been given the terrific cast, but I think the direction was a bit weak. Still, I'd love to buy a video of this.

What I don't get is why Andrews and Plummer risked their re-teaming and a live broadcast (pretty ballsy, if you ask me) on just a so-so property that didn't cry out to be re-made. Andrews and Plummer in ALL MY SONS or LONG DAY'S JOURNEY, PRIVATE LIVES, ok!! (if we're talking remakes) ... but ON GOLDEN POND?? Still, they did admirably.

I checked CBS Video's catalog and nothing came up. The shame of this was that while Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer have experience in doing live theatre on TV, the rest of the cast and director didn't and it showed. There are many productions that lend itself to live TV production but with "name" actors having little experience in it, unless you have actors like Plummer, Andrews, Shatner, Nimoy, Betty White and others of their acting generation in the cast the production will probably suffer. Of the more recent "name" actors: Daniel Radcliff, Neil Patrick Harris, Stephen Colbert, John Larroquette, Bebe Neuwirth, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kristen Chenowith have done live theatre very well. Kelli O'Hara and Victoria Clark are also theatre staples but get very little exposure in films or TV.
