'International version' *spoiler*

How is the ending different in the International version?
The one I have ends with Dina shooting Leo and then waking up in the boat, then Leo says he will always come back for her

The real ending is without her waking up on the boat, plus some additional things. The one you saw was for the mainstream audiences.

So Dina die in original version...?

reply

No no. Leo dies in the original version. I personally prefer the mainstream audience (or whatever) version more. The ending in it sort of brings the movie better together.

the ending in the original version is more like in the book. it's not supposed to bring it all together..

"I'd love to know how your mind works."

Just in case you are interested, the DVD I just bought from Norway (Jeg er Dina - Egmont Films 1128931) includes both endings.

Haven't seen the movie, but read all 3 books. cuz the movie based on 1st one, so Leo really got shot by Dina and didn't come back :) if not to talk about ghosts....

You can treat the vision as a premonition, that Leo will be killed anyway. There's no happiness in that so called happy ending (I liked it better too).

After just having watched the international version, I have to say I prefer the other one where Leo dies at the end. It`s strange, because I saw that version first and thought I would like the mainstream version better because I wouldn`t feel so depressed, but it didn`t work that way (for me).
In the version with the "happy" ending the last scenes seem a little weirdly cut together, as if the storyline wasn`t meant to be that way.
The other version (is it the director`s cut? I`d like to know, if anyone could tell me ...?) feels more authentic and classy, although it`s a very sad ending.
