Dina's reaction to the death of her mom

I think it was very artificial that she didn't shed a tear after her mother was boiled - when she was being carried in the white blanket, the girl behaved as if she didn't understand what was happening - she was only staring, not crying, not hysterizing and she wasn't that young not to understand what was happening. She was indeed shuddering in shock later on in the attic but I think it would be better if she was hysterically crying for her mother when they were carrying her dying, what do you think?

I think it was so sudden and unbelievable that she didn't quite accept it, she was in shock. Once when I was a kid I was involved in a car accident, the car was spinning on the highway, my friend was screaming, my friends mom was screaming, and I just sat there. I felt something but it was just that everything was happening so fast that I didn't have time to react, and afterward there was no reason to react so strongly. Maybe the same applies to Dina, clearly she was upset and realized what had happened but hysterical crying wasn't necessary and it was nice to not see it for a change. It also made the sudden switch in her behavior standout that much more I think. That seemingly distant way she dealt with her emotion in the moment of the accident and afterward.

But still in your case it was like that you were directly involved in the accident while Dina was just an observer - you were all concentrating on survival at that moment which just didn't give you any time to hysterize and Dina wasn't.

I'm just too accustomed to the way in which Hollywood presents such accidents when children are involved - I bet if it was an American movie, Dina would be crying and screaming and they'd have to tear her away from her mother.

Maybe she was in shock.

People react in different ways. I personally have a severe lack of an reaction that many people find unbelievable or simply in "bad taste." I choose not to give and genuine parallel to Dina and myself because it is my personal life, after all.
