unbelievable

Let me start by saying that I really liked this movie. I like every character in it. I especially like Nolte's charming character who has one bullsh@t story after another. The only problem I have with it is the gambling aspect. I am a casino dealer and have beed since sept 1991 anyways one thing that gets my goat is that EVERY movie that involves casino gambling gets it wrong in one aspect or another. Why that is I dont know. Maybe its because realistic casino gambling just isnt that glamorous so they have to make it that way to please the audience. I think it would be refreshing to see a movie depict casino gambling in a realistic fashion instead of seeing deals act inappropriately or players winning every hand or casino supervisors sweating or the players making the house look foolish or anything like that. I guess it just wouldnt be Hollyweird then.

I'm stalking you. :) Nah, just following you from a post you made on another board - "The King's Speech".

Have to agree about the casinos although I've only ever been a visitor. I remember the first time I went - I expected to find something pretty glamorous including sexy looking dealers showing a bit of skin.

My favourite subversion of the "glamorous casino" trope is the opening paragraph of Ian Fleming's original James Bond novel, "Casino Royale":

The scent and smoke and sweat of a casino are nauseating at three in the morning. Then the soul‑erosion produced by high gambling — a compost of greed and fear and nervous tension — becomes unbearable and the senses awake and revolt from it.

Not at all what one would expect, based on the numerous gambling scenes throughout the movie series.

***SPOILER***

so your problem is that Bob goes on an incredible winning streak?

That's a key feature of the plot.
