did he say 1000 movies in one month? Is that even possible?

I got to say I didn't see the movie, but I can't see why 1000 movies in 8 months would be such a big deal. It's about 4 movies a day, or about 6,25 viewing time a day. For someone who prefers to watch movies instead of watching tv, reading books or being a computer geek, it's not that hard really.

ok even if the avg movie he sees is 2 hours that is 8 hours a day watching films if you add 8 hours of sleep then food grooming etc and going to the movies it doesnt leave much time for much else.
shareI think he said that there was one specific month when he saw about 1000 movies. And he alluded to that as being a little much, as if the rest of his life has been spent seeing movies in moderation or something...
This movie was alternately fascinating, funny, and freaky as hell to me. Movies are great and everything, but they're no substitute for living an actual life.
That said, I couldn't help but get a kick out of the guy with the beard. That crazy falsetto laugh when he went down the opposite escalator to get into the movie for free...
Yeah he did say that--but there's only 744 hours in a 31 day month. I suppose if he watched a lot of shorts he could perhaps hit the 1,000 mark. Otherwise, I don't see how he did it--given the fact that he had to physically be at the movie theaters and travel between them.
sharewell yeah if you counted shorts you could really inflate a number
shareI listened to it 3 times, and I'm pretty sure he says "eight months" but simply didn't enunciate clearly enough. He refers to "the year I saw 1000 movies in 8 months". It wouldn't make sense to say "the year I saw 1000 movies in a month", you would just say "the month I saw 1000 movies".
sharepoint well taken
shareNo, actually it was a thousand movies in a month.
But they were short movies. When Jack goes through the master list, he says "ah, here's an early Hitchcock proganda short" - which tells me that if the theatre was showing short films, they probably did so in one of those exhaustive burn-out sessions they normally put on, such as those weekend specials etc.
It'd be easy to see a thousand shorts in a month. Gotta admit, though, it'd be tough to keep track of what (and how many) you actually did see...
Of course, Jack could've been exaggerating for his own philosophical purposes. I think that's probably the more likely answer.
Keep in mind he had no other obligations what so ever. He's been living off of an inherated supply of money for several years.
shareDefinitely 8 month as far as I am concerned. Listen carefully.
shareIt is actually 8 months (as also pointed out by subtitles, hence translated by the guys who had the script to do the translation).
Even if it would theoretically be possible to see 1,000 short films in a month, does New York actually show 1,000 different (short) films in a month? I highly doubt that.
