Incredible film!

I agree you don't need a large budget to make a great movie, case in point, "Halloween". However if you believe that "Bubba Ho-Tep" is one of the best movies ever made then you are on narcotics....and good ones. Oh, yes unfortunatley I did watch that awful movie and I am probably older than you.

I saw this film at the Midtown Art House in Atlanta. To quote Roger Ebert

It doesn't work as a horror movie because the Bubba Ho-Tep monster would make Ed Wood's monsters look slick by comparison. It doesn't work as a cult movie because it challenges the cleverness of the audience instead of congratulating it. It doesn't work as a traditional story arc because the story jumps the rails when Bubba Ho-Tep turns up.

But it does sort of work in one way: It has the damnedest ingratiating way of making us sit there and grin at its harebrained audacity, laugh at its outhouse humor, and be somewhat moved (not deeply, but somewhat) at the poignancy of these two old men and their situation.

So, it is a character driven movie. Two old men waiting to die. Are they Elvis and JFK? Doesn't matter. What does matter is that they regain something in the fight against Bubba Ho-Tep. Dignity and purpose. Something that old people are
stripped of. Truly something to think about, because we are all going to get old.

'Let's eat Grandma!' or, 'Let's eat, Grandma!' Punctuation saves lives. Use it. Save a life.
