If you loved Bubba Ho-Tep, then what other movies did you like?

Obviously, there is no movie that is "similar" to Bubba Ho-Tep, or am I wrong?

If you loved Bubba Ho-Tep, then what other movies did you like? Would you recommend some particular movies with Bruce Campbell? (Unfortunately, I have only seen him in Bubba Ho-Tep.)

Bubba Ho-Tep really makes me wonder how many great movies may exist that may never get the attention that they deserve....

bruce is genius in the evil dead movies and army of darkness as well.

there are tons of great little odd movies out there, but they do take some effort to find. so far i haven't come across any remotely like bubba ho-tep.

as one example, i'm a particular fan of director james westby's odd little movies (particularly the auteur). you won't be seeing any of his work in the multiplexes though - they're way too inappropriate for mass consumption!

Thanks for the suggestions!

Is the first Evil Dead movie actually a "horror comedy" or is this more a "pure horror" movie?

(I was wrong that I had not seen Bruce before; I had seen him in an episode of The X-files, but then he looked rather different than in Bubba Ho-Tep :-) )

I will check out James Westby too. (Indeed I never heard of him before.... )

i'd say the first evil dead is mostly pure horror. they get sillier and more over the top after that - army of darkness is more comedy than horror.

bruce is also in many of the spiderman movies in bit parts. it's always fun to play "spot the bruce" :)

You've probably already seen The Evil Dead movies by now, seeing as your post is so old. Regardless, here's my two cents:
The Evil Dead - scary and gory
Evil Dead 2 - scary, funny and gory
Army Of Darkness - funny and gory.

For what it's worth...

Two of my favorite in the genre of oddball movies? The Wicker Man (the original version with Christopher Lee) and Rare Exports.

Trail of the Screaming Forehead

I found this movie entertaining, much to my surprise. It made me go and watch the Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, which I liked even more.

Check out Bruce in...

Evil Dead1,2 and 3. Then check out My Name Is Bruce.

The latter will make more sense if you watch those particular movies.

He's been in so many good movies, but Evil Dead is his most well known, and for good reason.

My personal favourite is Evil Dead II.

Another great and underrated Campbell movie

The Man With The Screaming Brain.

Totally admit, this movie was stupid as hell, but it is highly entertaining!

I heard a long time ago there was supposed to be a sequel Bubba Nosferatu with Ron Perlman as Elvis...

Haven't heard any more about it, but wish it were made AND made with Bruce Campbell.

Love him in Burn Notice and prob will get the series box set.

Don't think this Ash vs. Evil Dead has been great so far. Hope the next season is better.

As far as another movie like this with him, think it's called Alien Apocalypse?

"Hey man, you got some big f@$cking bugs in here" lmao

reply

My bad...there is an Alien Apocalypse with Bruce Campbell, (that I haven't seen), the one I was thinking is called Terminal Invasion.

reply

I thought ash vs evil dead has been one of the best tv shows ever.

I don't know of any movies quite like Bubba Ho-Tep, but if you liked it, you might also like Swiss Army Man, Videodrome; maybe Dogville.

Bubba Ho Tep is to horror as...
Buckaroo Banzaii is to SciFi

both are weird/silly and entertaining as sh**.
