"Do you know what CD's are?"

WTF? Decent pilot with a few pretty annoying things to say the least but that whole thing where she asked him if he knew what CDs were made zero sense on any level whatsoever! Then when he gives her a "no duh" kind of answer she either says she couldn't remember or didn't know. On on earth could she not know or remember that?! It's not like CDs were a new thing when he went into the coma. lol

I'm sure that's a weird thing for me to get hung up on considering all of the rest of the dumb/silly/questionable things that took place in this episode but that really struck me as ridiculous. I enjoyed it overall though.

It wasn't me who was murdered, was it?

"I bought my first CD in 1995" "CD's were around in 1996 but not popular because all the early CD players skipped like crazy" "it wasn't such a crazy question because they were a fairly new thing back then"

Huh? Apparently, you were extremely late to the CD party.

CD's first came on the market in the mid-80's. I bought my first CD player in 1988. Everyone at my work had them by 1990-1991. They were indeed popular WAY before 1995 and weren't a 'fairly new thing back then'. That statement would be true in the late 80's, but not 1995.

And I don't know where you're getting the 'early players skipped' idea. Maybe from time to time you might hear a skip (and that would be more due to dirt or scratches on the CD itself, and not the actual player), but it was a rare occurrence in my experience.

MP3's started becoming popular and widespread by 1998-1999 with the rise of Napster. To be honest, I pretty much stopped buying CD's by the turn of this century and have only gone the MP3 route since.

CD's were quite the norm by 1996 and not considered newfangled or anything like that at all. I am 37--I was 18 in 1996 and had been buying CD's for five years at that point. I also worked at Sam Goody in 1995 and CD's were most certainly the main form of music, not cassette tapes.

I think maybe you were very, very late to the CD game. :P Sort of how I am late to the blu ray game. Hehe.

I am definitely curious as to how old you are now!

Dick, I am VERY disappointed.

I was still buying vinyls and tapes in the early 90s. I can't remember when I first bought a CD, I think around 94. They were around in the 80s but didn't really go mainstream until the 90s. People adopt technology much more quickly these days.

I don't know how old you are or what country you are from but we had CDs here in Australia in the late 80s and CDs were extremely popular in the 90s and I knew far more people that bought them than cassettes and records. I mean the 90s were the most popular period for CDs before people moved to downloading online and while I use I Tunes to buy some albums I still buy a lot of albums on CDs.
