French?

I understand that he'd know french obviously, but how do so many Japanese people also know how to speak it perfectly? French can be a pretty difficult language.

The lawyer :
I think Miko chose him because he speaks French for obvious reasons.

The receptionist :
These guys speak various languages, it's their job, at least they know usual sentences ("Mademoiselle est elle majeure ?").

The cop :
May be they called the french speaking cop when Hubert hit the custom officer.

The custom guy, the bank employee :
quite unusual, most speak english and their mother language.

Takanawa :
How many Yakusa bosses speak a foreign language ?

Last scene in the bank :
A japanese yakusa boss, a japanese girl in a japanese bank, they met a french employee (Momo), so everybody speaks french.Really weird !

The lawyer guy doesn't speak a word of French in Taxi 2.
Actually, most of the supporting cast are in Taxi 2 I swear!!

Hamtaro, of course not many japanese would speak french the way all the japanese in this film do.
So the chance for that to happen are almost none.
The reason for having all those japanese speaking french is simple : having the pace of the movie flow and be understood by the french people...which this film was aimed to at first.

How many chances the whole court of France was speaking english fluently during Louis XIV or Marie-Antoinette's time (Leo di Caprio and Durnst don't even bother to take a french accent), when american movies take place in France all the french people or almost speak or understand perfect english ( french connection, french kiss,... ).
The list goes on.

Really? Really??? Have you never before seen a movie set in a foreign country and by some strange and miraculous coincidence everyone speaks English (or the language of the studio making the movie)? In WW II movies, do you really think German officers went around speaking English with German accents? It's a MOVIE, dammit, not a documentary, and as such it requires what's called "willing suspension of disbelief." And as to the other amazing question on this board, OF COURSE Hubert (or should I say Jean Reno?) isn't eating real wasabi--it's a movie!
