I may be missing something but...

why is the movie titled "wasabi"? just because he eats some wasabi in one scene?

reply

Well that would be a pretty good conclusion. I mean why not?

reply

it just seemed kind of random to me, but i guess it works

reply

I like to think that Wasabi is also like a simile or reference or whatever to Hubert! Looks sweet and innocent- then BAM! Your nose is broken! XD HAHAHA!

reply

Because wasabi is Japanese, and the title is intended to show the, um, flavor of the movie, to let you know that it's set in Japan. Besides, as 'un flic," Hubert is "the heat." arh arh arh

reply

why not?

Brazil was named Brazil because Lowry wanted to go there.

"Hitler! C'mon, I'll buy you a glass of lemonade."

reply

wasabi is a great title for the movie easy to remember and reminds people of japan where the movie takes place

reply

Yea, I agree. But it stills seems a bit odd to me.

Imagine if a similar movie was made where a Japanese cop went to Paris to unravel a Yukuza mystery and the movie was titled 'Frogs' or 'Snails'!

reply

What seemed odd to me is that wasabi seemed to be something new to him. Hard to figure how he went without ever trying it before, especially as he lived in Japan previously.

reply

I'd like to think it was a reference to Yumi's personality.
