Anyone else felt Eric the token Black guy was forced?

Anyone else felt Eric the token Black guy was forced?

I mean this town seemed like an all white hill billy town. I liked that they attempted to make it appear diverse by including Eric, but it was almost like he was the token black guy in Not Another Teen Movie to me.

I actually thought Shane and Mandy both did solid work here but the rest of the characters could of been done better.
