Its definitely got a different feel to it, minimal dialogue and some interesting camerawork. I just don't see the same kind of build-up in stuff from hollywood, maybe I just haven't seen the right action movies - I don't know.

Why not just rent instead of buy? Its on netflix..

I would say realism.
For instance in Hollywood nobody knows how to handle weapons. There a weapon has a bad end und you have to aim it in a cool way at the enemy. And then the weapon has to make threatening noises. Repeatedly. At first you threaten somebody with it. And then after a while you load it (noise!). And sometimes you load it again (more noise).
Also Hollywood has bulletproof trees, barrels, cases, cardoors, walls....

Ok there are other films like Heat.

Lately Hollywood action flicks (not all of them, of course) are mere BS. Movies and fimmakers over there are more interested on showing stylized fighting sequences than focused on telling a story, despite if it's a minimalist story as in Nid de guêpes. You have lots of Hollywood flicks with amazing action sequences that are completely meaningless. Michael Bay movies comes immediately to my mind, while in other countries the action, the violence in movies does have a consequence and a meaning.

Seriously I haven't seen a GREAT action Hollywood flick since Die Hard (the latest sequel is laughable), Speed or Predator.
I am not counting films like The Matrix or LOTR since those movies incorporates several genres. I am talking exclusively about 100% unadultered action flicks.

Currently the best action films are being shot everywhere but Hollywood, just take a glance at Tropa de Elite (Elite Squad) from Brazil, Amores Perros (the 1st segment) from Mexico, Exiled from Hong Kong, Oldboy from Korea, from Japan: Miike and Kitano flicks, Tsotsi from South Africa, Plata quemada (Burnt Money) from Argentina, 28 Days Later... (British film), of course Yimou Zhang's Kung Fu extravaganzas, Gomorra from Italy, Bekmambetov's russian movies, french films like 13 Tzameti or Nid de guêpes, etc.

I think hollywood has to many people in marketing. Often when some director is new he makes a good movie, then other copy the formula and it get used up. The people who invest in movies want to be safe they get their money back, and they often settle for makeing a ok movie instead og a great one. Making a great movie often takes more time and perhaps more money and higher risk. The marketing people like what they know and you get no originality because of risk. I see some are getting fedd up now. The district 9 guy is going independent financial to not get pestered by marketing suits, kudos to him. His next movie will be great and original then. Hollywood is ruining for them selves, now we have imdb, i do not rent/buy if the movie gets below 7 rating. You do the same!! Boikott the cowardly industry, fire the marketing department.

It's as good as any other action film, including Hollywood blockbusters. Two things that differ though: the opening sequence where a man, superfluous character, is watching a nature programmme about predation and parasitism that is obviously metaphorical. Two, when the Albanian baddies shoot up the warehouse and everything gets punctured (fantastic sequence), the fire alarm bell rolls onto the floor at the end just to show how much has been destroyed. Great detail.

Also, they kill the dog that wouldn't happen in Hollywood
