Igby: Pretty much a waste of time
This was a mediocre movie in which the characters said and did things that the screenwriter apparently thought were clever and witty, but unfortunately were not. Igby is like the protagonist in "Catcher in the Rye" (a book I did not like): a whiny, shallow, self centered, maladjusted little jerk. And I could not understand his intense hatred of his mother. Resentment I could understand, but not such vitriol as he displayed.
The most interesting character is actually his brother Ollie who is very dry and droll, and has some mildly amusing reactions to Igby's various acts of stupidity.
This film was pretty much a waste of time.
