I hate hipsters

I hate the ennui, the emotional angst, the hyper intellectualism, the bohemian kids, the trust fund students/ arty people, the fashionable people who don't give a *beep* the angry youngsters, the self-absorbed, self-loathing, people-loathing morons! But most of all I hate J.D Salinger.

*beep* THEM

Really? That's strange- I love all of that stuff. You obviously have a problem with the whole world. : )

reply

You hate all those people but you call yourself Warhol?

I'll bring home the turkey if you bring home the bacon.

reply

Oh, I only call myself Warhol in an 'ironic' manner.

When you put ironic in quotation marks like that, is it meta-irony? Because that seems super hipster.

....how can you hate salinger? He is one of the best writters out there

I saved Latin, what did you ever do?

reply

You people are so literal minded it's boring.

reply

Why hate Salinger, his Holden Caulfield seemed to hate all that stuff as well.

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal. People know me.

reply

What do you expect from an internet message board Warhol.... you damned hipster

reply

god is a hipster.

"I am not worried, Harry...I am with you."

reply

You may see hipsters in this film, and you may see J.D. Salinger in this film (you'd be right in the second case, at least), but I'm not sure why you'd otherwise associate Salinger with hipsters.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

reply

Is it just me or is Warhol coming off as the ultimate hipster?

Hipsters show your g-string when you crouch down.

reply

I've found that the one thing hipsters tend to hate the most is other hipsters. Just sayin'.

I'm not sure how JD Salinger is a "hipster". Most of the OP's laundry list doesn't go together. Intellectual, bohemian, and arty maybe, but are those kind of people all that "fashionable"? And are they really anymore angry, self-absorbed, and self-loathing than anyone else in America today? And how exactly can you be a "hyper-intellectual" but a "moron". And highly "fashionable" but "people loathing"?

Yeah, this thread is eight years old, but it's typical of the way people today project all these negative--and often completely contradictory--traits on this almost mythical group of "hipsters" whose only real crime is being smarter than you are and successful enough to survive in a place like New York City.
