One big goof!!

Anyone else notice that the guy they had playing Joe Elliot is so much smaller than the man himself?. Joe is about 6'1" or 6'2" yet the actor looks about 5'8" or 5'9". He is even dwarfed a bit by other members of the band in the film which is stupid as any Lep fan will know that Joe is taller than all the other guys in the group. Pretty bad goof in a terrible film.

Thanks for filling us in, but I'm here to tell you that not everyone who watched this movie is a die-hard Lep fan. I'm almost glad that I didn't know the first thing about the band when I saw this movie...otherwise I'd probably be here bitching about the actors' heights as well.

What do you want to bet that they searched high and low to find someone to pull off the role in every way including height-wise, but it just didn't work out that way? I dare say that Orlando Seale was cast for his tremendous acting ability, and maybe even for his real-life musical prowess as well. (And who knows--maybe he was the only one who could squeeze into those tight pants without giving himself a hernia.) I thought he was wonderful--expressive, emotional, and real.

Funny that you should mention this, though...if memory serves, the actor who played Davy Jones in VH1's 2000 Monkees biopic was too TALL for his role.

The guy who portrayed Pete Willis was too big in general, from the pics I've seen Pete Willis is really really tiny....hence the shyness and drinking...
All I can say is that I hope the Leps made a few coin off this ...this..whatever...!!

Victims. Aren't we all?

"look at Angus Young, he's a midget and he's fantastic."

Yeah, good point....My assumption based on material from the Animal Instinct book that was released in 1987....there is also another Def Leppard book called No Safety Net released in 1992, I think...

You know, I really think that the tour with AC/DC should have been shown in the movie, at least the fact that Bon Scott died of drinking....as foreshadowing the demise of Steve Clark....
AC/DC might get their robustness from living "down under" ? just a guess...

I am a die-hard Def leppard fan and I really didn't give a holler about Orlando Seale's height. he pulled off Joe Elliot really well, you are right, he was still darker haired in "photograph" (however it was straight, not curly, and shorter) There used to be a pic on the Def Leppard official website featuring Joe, Sav, Pete, and Frank Noon from 2003 standing together (yes it was 03) and Pete was very tiny. That is another goof from the movie, they made it seem like Rick Allen recorded the Def Leppard EP with the band but it was really Frank Noon and the movie made no mention of him.

p.s. I agree they could have found a "LE CLUB" shirt and not just "CLUB" as was mentioned earlier.

I know a bigger flaw.

While in the studio with mutt singing "bringing on the heartbreak", Joe sings 2 lines of the course after mutt tells him to go higher.

Mutt plays back after adjusting levels (notice no cuts or edits to the peice itself) and the entire course is completly recorded, with range and vocal patterns he didnt even hit, or even complete.

It was a bit off.

I'd always assumed the faders he moved were pitch-shifters. When he said "I didn't do anything- you did it!", I figured he just meant that the effects wouldn't sound half as good if Joe wasn't a good singer to begin with.

I noticed a bigger goof. In 1986 Status Quo drummer Jeff Rich played alongside Rick Allen after he had lost his arm. During Def Leppard's warm up mini tour of Ireland, Rich missed a gig and the rest of the band realized Allen could drum alone. Rich was not mentioned in the movie.
