It's not a mystery movie, but The Remains of The Day is a good movie about people who work in service during and after WWII. It's not as good as Gosford Park, but it's interesting.

Lark Rise to Candleford is an earlier time period and not true to any particular event beyond in general, but either is Gosford Park. More towards the differences in two English classes below aristocratic you see in Gosford Park. More how the working and the business owner interacted from different towns.

Pioneer Quest was interesting to me. Not the greatest, but good if you watch it all the way through. I think I would have included more things to get a better picture, but it does stand well as it is.

I've yet to watch Home Fries, but it looks like it might be worth the time.

Both of those movies are in my top 20, but I wouldn't say the two are similar.

I agree that they are both EXCELLENT films, however.
