Do you mean the trailer at the end of the film? There was a translation error I believe. It should have said Gerstine was exhonorated for his actions, not resurrected or whatever. You can check out his bio on a holocost website.

'Rehabilitated' also means 'restored in his honour'. It does not imply that he survived.

Had a very difficult time understanding the actors. It was in English, but everyone sounded sorta funny. I almost wished that everyone spoke his/her native tongues. In any case, I got super confused about the ending credits. I thought that he hung himself then the credit said that he was released after 20 years. Rehabilitation, I believe, was a mis-leading word.
My life isn't any better than yours.

I found the way the film ended and tied the loose ends together to be very rushed and a little unsatisfying after the steady pace building up to it.

I saw the film, couple of year ago, and in French, but I had the impression that he killed himself, was he did eveything he has, as he did have a choice, and wanted to be a witness, to be able to talk about it.
And he is treated like a criminal and a really evil man, when he tried to do his nasty job with as much as little humanity he could.
So not being able to be understand, he killed himself as he was treated as a war criminal.
And yes, the priest died in a concentration camp.
People has critize that movie saying it wasnt objectif, but I think that Costa-Gravas show that its never black or white, like that poor german officer.

I think he killed himself because when they put him in a seperated cell, they gave him a copy of Court of Denunciation. After reading it, where it was stated he didn't do anything in his power to safe lives & he's a war criminal, there was a look of desparation on Gerstein's face. He already tried all he could & now he was put on trial ?
It never stated clearly about the fate of the priest, who is a fictional character. The doctor whom the Vatican helped to flee to Argentina is fictional as well.

I'm a half-deaf / older english speaker. Most dialogue was understandable, esp after repeated rewind/replays of lines, but not all.
For me it would have been much preferred to have closed captioning available while watching the (netflix supplied) dvd.
Ah well, this was still the best of several holocaust movies i've seen.
