Why do you think the werewolf family "turned" Megan but did not kill and eat her?

They wanted to eat her, but she has "Alien" dna in her. Thus her blood is acid. The werewolves were unable to eat her because of her acidic blood so they just turned her instead. Besides, werewolve sex is supposed to be pretty good, and megan is hot. So they had another good reason to turn her.

Because she was their daughter? From the hints in the film that was her family, her house.
shareI think she "became" a member of the family. As I recall, she was "seconded" to Ryan's team as an expert, so to speak, and that's what brought her to the area. And after that, well, supernatural nature just ran its course.

I always thought the implication was that she was intended for the younger son of the household--if you look at the photo, there are 2 paired couples and one lone guy in the back.
I thought Megan was supposed to be his "mate".

Megan went up into the area to study them and so they might have seen her as different from the soldiers who wanted to just catch them and use them as weapons. Megan as a naturalist was probably seen as someone who respected nature and so they gave her an opportunity

I like the odd runt of the litter's mate speculation. I honestly never got a chance to pay that much attention to the photo. I love the mythology for werewolves but most of the movies suck. Megan was definitely the most unclear point of this movie... when was she turned, if bit before start of Spec. Ops operation why did she turn later than Ryan... etc..
This was a really damn good movie, especially for the budget. I think it's nuts to call it better than American Werewolf in London but its a damn good second. New wolfman wasn't bad either, pace changes throughout and it leans on the psych aspect at point but still underrated in my opinion. That and Howling IV, toss better werewolf and transformations onto that movie and you'd get a much better rating.
*edit* P.S. What is up with the UK and werewolf movies? At this rate, it'll almost be a necessity to reference UK or the older movies that involved it if you ever want to make a new good werewolf flick.
I, too, like the idea she was intended to be the runt's mate; makes sense enough, as I doubt Scottish woodland werewolves get out much. As for Megan lasting longer than Ryan, I believe Cooper said it best.
"Maybe it's like taking a *beep* Just because you have to doesn't mean you drop trou and pinch one off."
I think it's safe to assume Meg was a werewolf long before Ryan, so she had most likely already had her 'first time'. Even though she felt the change coming on, she could hold out as long as she thought she had her way out. Ryan, on the other hand, was newly turned and when the urge took him, he gave in (which given the situation he was in, who wouldn't of?).
Even when Sarge starts the change, he is able to hold out long enough to save Cooper, though it is clearly difficult. I'd liken it to the runs, especially the first time; when the urge hits you, you try to hold out until you find a bathroom (hopefully.) Ryan, knowing he was on the metaphorical *beep* and having no actual attachments to anyone there, simply let it rip.
