Wow- awful movie

I like Sandler's movies, but this one was painful. I didn't laugh once. I couldn't believe how bad it is. Saying this is cringeworthy is like saying Las Vegas is a truck stop in the desert.

It was bad even for Sandler fans. It was the script which is largely to blame, downright predictable.

Its that man again!!

sometimes remakes just shouldn't be attempted

Picks up in New York. A servant who has a foot fetish? An opera singer who sings as he's being beaten up? Yup, real predictable stuff.

it wasnt cringeworthy to me, but maybe that is because im not a jaded douchebag who cant appreciate good things when they happen, this wasnt made to be "oscar worthy" it is a feel-good romantic comedy with morality high points throughout the film giving you reasons to enjoy the flick for reasons other than just "the best emotional crying scene" or the most tragic death scene, or some other best of scene that oscar awards choose.

if you cant sit down and enjoy any part of movies like this, then there is no hope for your soul, buddy. at least not from me, cause this movie has many enjoyable qualities, that i just pity you for not being able to enjoy.

I agree. I really enjoyed it. Take it in the spirit it was intended :)

Even for a rather whimsical, simple romantic comedy, its entertainment moments are offset by its over-the-top lead character: a borderline retarded, violent thug. It'd be a more interesting story had Deeds been shrewd rather than dumb as a rock. Nothing funny or entertaining about the supposedly humble, down-home lead beating the *beep* out of a mugger who's already given up the purse, or a group of patrons at a restaurant because he couldn't handle some insults. In fact, the protagonist doesn't even play a role in battling the villain, a role left for his love interest to address. Humility isn't anti-intellectualism. Hatred of success isn't the opposite of greed. And what's with the constant sexism of not cussing in front of women? Are you kidding me?

Yes, it had its funny moments, but the story could've been much better. It's like it was written by someone who doesn't know any rich or poor people. I'd rather see Deeds slowly catch onto what's going on around him and somehow turn the tables on the greedy rich.

I didn't hate it, I would watch it over The Waterboy, Jack and Jill, Zohan, etc.

What I find interesting though is unlike most comedies of this sort all of the funny jokes are at the end, most of the time they start out funny and then run out of steam.
