Overrated?
Honestly, the story is real and interesting, but the film itself (actors, photography, sound, script ...) I found mediocre (90 on Metacritic!) Guess I'm not an expert but someone agree with that?

shareI didn't think there was anything at all mediocre about it, but I didn't find it a particularly good film.
The production, cinematography, acting, etc. I thought to be excellent, but as a whole it seemed more like news footage than a feature film. It kind of documented the events of the day, rather than capturing/portraying a specific journey through the events, which I felt lessened its value as a movie experience.
Political movies are funny it depends on which side you are on. Your comments make no sense.

A funny one this. I didn't think it was a brilliantly made film, some of the acting of the secondary parts was appalling, some scenes were hammy and the script patchy. Definitely a 'made for television' film. Having said all that I still found it incredibly powerful and personally gave it an 8 on IMDB.
shareI agree. For me it was the "blinking eyelid" transitions that ruined the film. I did enjoy the acting and the grittiness of it, and was drawn in to the characters, but that ONE editing decision kinda ruined the film for me.
5/10
Oh man, I hated the fact it kept going black all the time and I found the whole thing very boring and no one was that great in it. I gave it a 1! I've been bored before but never this bored, I thought with James Nesbitt it was going to be great but I wish I had turned it off after a few minutes!
real human being and a real hero
You really had wrong expectations here. My opinion is completely oposite.
shareyou shouldn't rate things you havn;t fully watched...

It has its moments (Ivan going for his sunday stroll) but yeah, the only really great thing about it for me is the final act. The questioning of the soldiers, and that very last scene before the press.

Excellent film! Love documentaries, so I really like movies that strive for realism and not cheap melodrama.
