**possible spoilers** 'Speciality' Frank-furters (?)

Did anybody else notice something strange about Franks implied fate? During the scene immediately succeeding Franks demise while the gang is on the porch discussing the fact that they wouldn't have to "share with Frank anymore" the realization hit me that they disposed of Franks remains by turning him into the "speciality" of the day. A couple of things lead me to this, #1, When the scene transitions to the porch scene, the chalkboard listing the specials has listed: "speciality: Frank-furters". #2, The brothers seem to have a penchant for the butchers trade, and coming up with sausage recipes. #3, During the porch scene Shane speaks directly "to" the frankfurter that he has on a fork emphasizing that very fact of not having to share with Frank anymore. I could be totally hallucinating about all this but just wondering if there is anybody else that noticed that part of the ending.

Hi FR, just wondered if that little snippet at the end stirred anyone else's imaginations. I've seen this flick several times now, so I guess I could say it has "grown on me". Guy P.'s and Rachel G.'s performances are to me pretty amazing..Freaked me out to see RG's performance in this movie compared to her role as the mom in Johnny D.'s "Blow". I do happen to love a good old fashioned foot long cheese coney hotdog though, but don't think I would ever venture to have one down under if I ever went. What's up w/ "TTFN"? Just wondering.

They refer several times throughout the film to being butchers, and even have "butcher slang" peppered throughout the scenes (which another character annoyed-ly refers to). That's why one of the brothers is able to whip up blood sausage in the prison kitchen.

I don't think you are imagining anything and I don't think it was meant to be sly, either. As they were busy roasting up Frank (a way to dispose of his body) they showed another brother repainting the car he arrived in -- from black to red. They then showed another brother locking up the room Frank had been staying in, presumably after cleaning everything up. Meat grinders have been used before, very rarely, by disturbed killers to destroy evidence. There's also a scene in 'Fargo' when a body is put in a wood chipper....

They weren't eating it.

I noticed (not surprising, since you were meant to!) and I thought it was a nice touch.

I'm gonna take this itty-bitty site by storm... I'm just gettin' warm.

I immediately thought of the similar fate which befell a character in FRIED GREEN TOMATOES
and the line, "The secret's in the sauce."

I would guess that Mal's creation of special birthday gift 'blood sausages' for his brother,'Muscles'was a sort of foreshadowing moment. Yikes!

Another really old thread that I'm replying to, but I can't help it.

I disagree with the premise, and if the filmmaker actually did mean it that way, then I consider it completely contrary to the characters of the brothers. It was stated several times that they never hurt anyone, and they didn't even carry loaded weapons. Even at the end, Dale did not kill Frank. So even with all the obvious imagery, I find it quite a stretch that these basically good guys who never hurt anyone would chop up a body like a psychopath and make sausages out of it, especially since they lived in a remote area and could easily dispose of the body. My two cents' worth...
