OK. First the scene when Dale(Guy Pearce) comes home to see his wife bandaging Frank's feet. Frank asks, "Where did you put the money?" to which Dale replies. "Oh, I stuck it up a cow's ass." When then see Dale leave to go retrieve the money and when he gets there it's gone. They later imply that Frank ended up with it but how? Is this a plot hole?
Earlier they showed Frank looking at that cow as he drove past it. I think when Dale made that comment, he put two and two together. Which is probably why he said later to Dale "I bet you won't put it up a cows @$$".

Yes I understand but right after he tells him about putting it up a cow's ass he drives off to retrieve it. Frank is left with two holes in his feet. There is no way he was able to beat Dale to it unless he called somebody in Melbourne to get it.
The fact that everyone showed up at Carol's to wait for Dale (including Frank) shows that no one knew where the money was, or at least thought Dale had it.
So really, what did happen to the money? I know this is a really old thread, but I'm quite curious. At the time I saw the film, I was thinking that the hijacked woman somehow saw them hide it and SHE took it. But there was nothing in the film to suggest that...
I believe Frank got it. But, whoever here mentioned the timing is correct. Frank wouldn't have said the remark about a cow's ass if he wasn't the one who took it. It may not be plot hole, but faulty editing? Because you're right, Frank wouldn't have had time to beat Dale there. Or, Frank actually got the money much earlier?
Frank had an awful lot of connections. It would be nothing to have called someone who was closer to get the money for him and give him a handsome reward for doing it.
Wow, this is an old thread! Glad to see it's still getting fingers tapping. Anywho. I believe this is the only logical explanation. Frank must have called somebody to go tear that place apart after hours. It's the only explanation that fits.
